Lampeter Pantyfedwen Eisteddfod
The Rhys Thomas James Pantyfedwen Eisteddfod, held over August Bank Holiday in a Ceredigion university town, with choral, poetry and prose competitions continuing a Welsh cultural tradition of centuries.
A small Welsh market town that punches above its weight architecturally - the Cockerell college quadrangle alone justifies the detour - and whose fortnightly market and clutch of independent cafes give it a genuine, if unhurried, community pulse.
