Tregaron Festival of Harness Racing
One of the biggest prize race meetings of its kind in the UK, three days of flat-out trotting and pacing on a grass track in mid-Wales where the sport has deep roots, with sulkies rattling past the spectators at very close quarters.
A proudly Welsh drovers' market town punching well above its size thanks to Y Talbot, a nationally recognised pub-restaurant and inn that alone justifies the detour, set against a compact Georgian and Victorian stone square with Cors Caron's big-sky wetland just up the road.
