Lampeter Agricultural Show
A large Ceredigion one-day show at Pontfaen Fields with Welsh cobs and ponies at the heart of it, alongside dairy cattle, sheep, goats, a vintage display and the incomparable Rugby 7-a-side played out in the summer heat.
A small Welsh market town that punches above its weight architecturally - the Cockerell college quadrangle alone justifies the detour - and whose fortnightly market and clutch of independent cafes give it a genuine, if unhurried, community pulse.
