Hijori Onsen Yuki Matsuri (肘折温泉雪まつり)
In one of Japan's snowiest hot-spring hamlets, residents carve the landmark giant daruma snowman 'Okura-kun' and line the narrow canyon road with a corridor of candles called the Phantom Snow Corridor, capped by rare mid-winter fireworks.
