Overton Scarecrow Festival
Around 400 handmade scarecrows take over gardens, houses and businesses across the village for a weekend Grand Fete that draws roughly 3,000 visitors to the Overton Recreation Centre grounds.
A remarkably intact Welsh border market village whose ancient churchyard yews, conservation-area streetscape and 76-plus listed buildings reward an unhurried morning, though the imminent loss of its sole village pub to flats would leave a real gap in the offer.
