The self styled Rural Capital of Food throws its October festival around the pork pie and the Stilton, with one of the largest gatherings of artisan cheesemakers in the country.
Melton Mowbray is a genuinely rewarding food destination: a working livestock market, award-winning brewery, centuries-old pie and cheese traditions with formal protected status, multiple CAMRA-listed pubs, and busy street markets on Tuesdays and Saturdays make this one of the most substantive market towns in the East Midlands.
