Exbury Christmas Fair
The de Rothschild gardens in the New Forest open their gates for two festive weekends with more than 75 local producers, a Father Christmas in a steam railway carriage and an illuminated night train through the woodland after dark.
Exbury is not a village to wander for its own sake - it has no pub, no shop, and no street life to speak of - but the Grade II* gardens are among the finest woodland gardens in England and reward a half-day visit handsomely, especially in spring.
