56a Missa do Vaqueiro de Serrita
Founded in 1970 by Padre Joao Cancio and Luiz Gonzaga at a stone altar shaped like a horseshoe in the rural Sitio Lages, this deeply moving outdoor mass draws tens of thousands of vaqueiros in full leather dress for a day of faith, aboio chanting, pifano bands and vaquejada that is the most traditional event of its kind in the Northeast.
